PATIENT SAFETY NOW

PROVIDING A REFRESHING VIEW OF SAFETY

Who am I

I am Suzette Woodward.

I am an independent patient safety expert who has worked in the NHS for over 40 years. I am a visiting professor in patient safety who started out in patient safety when it was called clinical risk in the 1990s. Since then I have spent my last three decades studying and applying all aspects of patient safety and risk. As a former paediatric intensive care nurse I am most interested in how we can help healthcare professionals work safely in a complex adaptive environment. The right positive and supportive culture is key.

This blog shares my thinking based on experience and expertise from working in and with NHS organisations, working at the NPSA, NHS Resolution, DHSC and across the globe.

I have written three books, have a Doctorate in patient safety and a masters in clinical risk along with an honorary DSc.

I love to share my knowledge so if you need my help please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Enjoy.
